YouTube will soon let it’s users download content on multiple devices. However, the functionality is in it’s testing phase and will be available for only the premium users. This feature was spotted on the offline setting of the platform that is available on beta and stable versions for a few Android users.
YouTube is testing a functionality that will let it’s Premium users download videos on multiple devices
The functionality will enable users to save downloaded videos on any of the devices they select. The option will be available in the setting option and under ‘background and download’. It will be titled as Cross Device Offline Setting as a part of Premium’s beta (15.50.32) and stable (15.49.34) versions. Upon clicking this button, a pop-up will appear where the user can enter the device they wish to save the videos on.
A similar functionality was spotted two years ago by Android Police. However, the feature was not working efficiently, with the videos not getting downloaded automatically. Additionally, the users were not getting prompt to get the content downloaded. Soon after, the feature disappeared from the ‘settings’.
