Google Photos To Turn 2D Images Into 3D With New AI Feature

Google Photos can soon portray photographs as 3D pictures with the help of a new function. Known as ‘Cinematic Photos’, the functionality will have the ability to turn 2D pictures into life-life images in 3D even if the former lacks depth data.

Google photos will leverage technologies like machine studying and synthetic intelligence for cinematic photos

‘Cinematic photos’ will identify a photograph’s depth by using machine studying and will then create its 3-dimensional illustration. Following this procedure, the app will add a clean panning motion with the help of a digital camera. This will produce a 3-dimensional impact for a 2-dimensional image in no time.

The app is planning to create the pictures mechanically when the new feature will be available for the public next month. Users can even turn off the function if they wish. To do so, users will have to go to ‘settings’ and then ‘memories’. After this there will be an ‘advanced’ option, upon clicking which, users will get the option to ‘toggle on/off cinematic photos’. Then users will need to tap on their profile photograph.

Google has been working extensively on its pictures app for iOS and Android to make it on par with rivals.
