Google users are getting error messages like ‘Can’t reach Google at the moment’ and ‘Something went wrong’ while accessing Google Assistant. The devices affected due to this glitch include smartphones, smart speakers, and smart displays that are connected to the user’s account. Moreover, first and third-party devices such as Google Home Automation, Amazon Alexa, Insignia Alarm clock, and Nest Hub are at the receiving end of the flaw.
The glitch in Google Assistant seems to persist only for some Google accounts
Since the voice assistant is an integral part of users’ daily lives, the glitch impacted their day-to-day activities massively. The error in the smart speaker appears to be on Google account level as a result of the recent outage. Hence, it does not matter whether individuals are using Android or iOS devices. Affected users reported that rebooting, clearing cache data, uninstalling and reinstalling updates does not seem to be working.
Google’s Product Expert on the Assistant forum stated that they are aware of the issue. But there is no temporary solution available for affected users. Therefore people may have to wait for Google to solve the problem. Some people tried to use the affected home automation devices by signing in with a different account. But that led to the user losing all content and subscriptions.
