What Industries have AI/ML Impacted?

The most advanced and emerging technologies in the world undoubtedly include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. These technologies have opened unknown opportunities in the education sector, hospitality sector, fashion industry, health care sector, and almost every other domain. The demand for these new-end technologies is increasing manifold. Students want to explore the fields of AI and ML and make a career out of it, due to the scope, demand, and monetary benefits involved.

It has not been long since the buzz words of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence were first introduced. The top Ed-tech platforms started publishing courses on these technologies, to be the first ones imparting the knowledge. Be it Coursera, Udemy, or any other famous educational site. Gradually universities from all over the world have built curriculum solely dedicated to courses and programs in AI and ML. 

Apple makes the big move in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

It does not come as a surprise when Apple very recently announced an AI/ML focused program via its Apple in Research Academia(AIRA) for people from various domains and areas of expertise. The focus of the program is to help people from various backgrounds utilize and harness the power of AI and ML in order to solve problems and come up with effective solutions. The -program has been named as the Apple residency Program.

Apple has always held technology and innovation at its core of functioning. Apple was among the first to come up with voice-assisted bots such as Siri. Apple integrated Hardware, Software, and services in a bundle when Siri was launched. They harnessed the power of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning very aptly here. 

Taking this forward, Apple has decided to launch year-long courses for American & European candidates primarily focusing on AI/ML. Apple will be providing all the academic guidance and mentoring required by these candidates and help them shape an advanced career in this niche. Being technically sound or being an engineer is not the criteria to be apart of the program. Apple is looking out for candidates who are not in the technology discipline but want to utilize AI/ML in their domains via innovations and great product developments, that solve community problems. No criteria as such have been set yet for the program. 

Who is the Apple Residency program For?

The admissions begin in the summer of 2021. Graduates in STEM, people having software development and coding background, design, psychology, robotics, public health, linguistic, neuroscience, and various other backgrounds can all apply for the Apple residency program. Although the candidates must have a knack for problem-solving, programming and have a graduation degree or equivalent. The program is completely aimed at application-based learning and giving the candidates a hands-on experience of AI/ML applications. Candidates will begin the coursework in AI/ML and gradually move towards focused projects in either Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence. Once their research works/projects/innovations are in the finishing stages, they will get the chance to present them at various international conferences as well. There is no doubt that this initiative of Apple is something the youth have been waiting for. Working on cutting technologies such as AI/ML that too in your niche domain to solve problems is a dream come true for any student today.
