Amazon has rolled out a new functionality that will let users make group audio as well as video calls. The feature will allow a maximum of seven participants to join the call. It will be available on Amazon Echo devices including Echo Show and Echo Dot. As of now, the latest feature will be launched in India, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Brazil, and Austria. It will also be available in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and the US.
Up to seven people can join the voice and video group call on Amazon Echo
To set up the group call, the owner of the smart speaker will first have to create a group (preferably something small that is easy to pronounce) on the Alexa app. Then the user will have to open the Alexa app on their phone, where in the top-right corner, there will be a person icon. Tapping on this icon will open a ‘Add New’ option. After clicking on this option, the user will have to go to ‘Add Group’. The User will then have to set up the group and click on the enable button. This action will switch on the group calling functionality. Users can then start hosting the group call by saying commands like “Alexa, call my *office group” (*name of the group which the user has saved on their app). The feature will come in very handy amidst the pandemic, where video calling is on the rise.
