All You Need to Know About Human-Centered Computing

Human-centered computing is an emerging field that focuses on the design and implementation of human-computer systems by using different computer technologies. In simple words, Human-Centered computing is the interaction between humans and computers for exploring informational technologies.

This set of methodologies can be used in any field, in applications where humans directly interact with the computer technologies.

Interaction of humans with computers

Human-computer interaction is a branch of knowledge that includes human interaction with computer science, including human factor engineering and cognitive science. A hike in HCL was noticed in the 1980s, with the invention of personal computers.

Earlier there was limited scope in IT, and the user’s requirements were not fulfilled. With the increasing use of smartphones and the Internet, HCL is progressing in other fields as well from its initial interaction stage of desktop computers.

Human-centered systems and their process

With the help of computing. Humans can perform and explore all types of work. HCS systems are designed to interact with humans in the most recognized way. According to Mike Cooley, HCS systems are designed for a better approach in human-centered computing.

This basically depends on five main factors, based on the analysis of human tasks, monitor the performance of the task for human benefits, to be responsible for human skills, and flexible enough to change according to human needs.

Human-centered computing in Visualization

Visualization is a technique of creating visual imagery, graphs, charts to present information in an understandable way to enhance the decision making and to acquire effective results. Human-centered computing allows humans to interact with computer systems in different fields especially in intelligence marketing.

Human-centered Machine learning and Artificial intelligence

The Global AI market is expected to grow 54 percent more by 2021. Various algorithms are designed in order for human interaction with machines. Human-centered AI is the recognition of the way intelligent systems make decisions and offers problem-solving capabilities.

Many Intelligent systems come in contact with humans and predict the desired output by understanding human behavior and what they want. Human-centered AI is classified into two categories-Systems trained to think like Human social perspective and AI Systems trained to help understand humans.

Human-centered computing in the cloud

HCC in the cloud allows access to resources from remote areas in any circumstances. To provide benefits to humans, the theory of integrating mobile terminals with the cloud is brought into the picture with human-centric computing.

As clouds and terminals are rapidly increasing, this paradigm is expected to move from technology-centric to human-centric with the aim to link various mechanisms with the cloud for providing adequate opportunities to humans anywhere and anytime.

Human-centered Multimedia

Human-centered multimedia is identified in three main areas, productivity, analysis, and interaction. The production consists of human tasks of creating a media which can be in audio, image or video form as well. In the second stage, the analysis of multimedia content is executed.

The automatic analysis helps in retrieving important information and enhances human communication. Multimedia interaction includes face-to-face communication as well as real-time. The integration of Multimedia systems with the real world is rapidly evolving with the approach of achieving natural interaction not only with computer systems but human to human worldwide.

Mobile computing

Human-centric mobile computing consists of five stages which include analysis, design, evaluation, implementation, and review. Providing the right experience to the users is the main intention. The process of inventing a user-centric approach for mobile applications is similar to any other platform.

To analyse the needs of users, it’s crucial to understand the needs of users that enable the enhancement and support interaction. The contribution of mobile computing to enhance human-centered computing is fathomless. The rapid increase in technology has promoted great progress in every field.

Human-centered computing in health and medical systems

Medical equipment sometimes does not function as required. The reason for this is not flawed technology or wrong systematic consideration but the lack of human interaction with other computing devices. Improper or lack of proper implementation in Healthcare devices can cause inefficient results and poor outcomes. To avoid these medical errors, human-centered methods and algorithms are designed especially for functional outputs and easy implementation.

User experience while designing any healthcare device or system should be considered for the product to be successful. Achiever the specific goals and provide a satisfactory experience to the end-users, human-centric computing involves the process of designing products that fit according to requirements.

Conclusion

Digital interactions influence our lives. With the help of human-centered technology, users can unleash a wide spectrum of possibilities. From desktop and personal computers to mobile devices, the results achieved are much more efficient, accurate and have given rise to many opportunities for overall development.

Human-centered computing aims to provide a platform that focuses on the development and deployment of systems with advanced techniques using various methodologies with a human as the center of attention.
